Basma Hakem is a dedicated mental health professional with over a decade of experience in the mental health and service sector. She is currently completing her Master’s in Social Work at the University of Toronto and completing her Practicum with Thriving Family Co.
Basma is passionate about parental, pregnancy and postpartum mental health and brings a compassionate approach to supporting parents. As a mom of soon-to-be two under two, she understands firsthand the challenges of balancing parenthood and mental well-being. She looks forward to supporting parents with their infants and child sleep through a holistic and relational approach.
Basma’s clinical practice is rooted in psycho-education, mindfulness, and an emphasis on embodiment, reflecting her commitment to fostering resilience and holistic mental well-being in her clients.
Basma is dedicated to providing a space for underserved populations to feel supported and empowered, acquire helpful tools, and move closer to their overall well-being goals.
Basma holds a B.A. in Psychology and Gender Studies. She has various certifications and extensive experience in narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
